Home > Tokyo Marathon 2017 – Our Rep Joe’s Report.
Hi everyone, I’m Joseph and I was one of the reps for the Tokyo Marathon trip 2017.
This was the biggest group we have had for the Mount Fuji trip since we have started this tour several years ago.
Our plan for the day was to visit Mount Fuji, take a cruise along the lake on a private ship and finally a ride on a gondola up the mountain to taste some black eggs.
The day started early from the hotel, we heard towards Mount Fuji, the trip took about 1.5 hours stopping on the way for a short break and some shopping at a little gift shop.
On the way we could easily see Mount Fuji and even the snow at the top. Our lovely local guide gave us an in depth story about the mountain and why it’s so special to Japan. She also gave us information regarding Japans culture and history.
We had around 30 minutes to take some photos and have a take a short stroll. The next stop was lunch, which was in a 5 star hotel. Lunch was a delicious buffet. After lunch we spent 1 hour on the private ship cruising around the lake.
The last stop was a lovely trip on the gondola which goes up the mountain. The mountain was famous for its cooked eggs, which turned the outer shell was black.
Once again, this year proved to be a very popular for the friendship run. We took about 30 clients to the expo, which was the start and finish for the friendship run. It was very special seeing so many people represent their countries in make up and fancy dress. All of clients thoroughly enjoyed it. I would highly recommend do this.
As the start line of the Tokyo Marathon is only 200 metres from the hotel, the clients appreciated an extra few minutes lying in and getting ready. The Hotel provided our own room for breakfast, which ensured all our runners were well fed for the race.
We took a few spectators to the start to see their partners and friends. After thiss we escorted them to the finish area, which was amazing to see as this year it finished at the beautiful Imperial Palace.
We waited here to applaud the runners who successfully completed the 2017 Tokyo marathon. This year Tokyo marathon special to many of our runners as this was their 6th and final World Marathon Major, and they were also awarding their beautiful 6-star medal and certificate.
I would like to thank everyone for choosing sports tours and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
It was a wild weekend at the Marathon du Mont Blanc. Sadly the weather closed in and put paid to some events but a number of our runners completed the full marathon around Europe’s highest peak. Congratulations to everyone on a mega achievement 🏔 #TeamSportsTours pic.twitter.com/sUw4mRlz6m
