The Tour of Tameside is a four day festival of running which takes in the best sights and sounds that Tameside has to offer. A variety of running routes and terrains challenges participants both physically and mentally, with all stages having been carefully chosen to be achievable for runners of all abilities.
The original week-long Tour was founded by marathon legend Dr Ron Hill MBE in 1983, the event was a huge hit and we are extremely proud of the support shown by our sponsors, supporters and of course the participants in previous races.
In nearly 50 years of helping people experience amazing events, we’ve seen runners enjoy bucket list moments. From that final bend in Central Park to running up the steps of The Great Wall of China.

We know how important a good hotel location is for both the start and finish of a marathon. Our Director of Operations, Alex de Waard looks at marathon events that start and finish at the same location and discusses our hotel locations for these events.
His love of sport and his passion to keep active was seen throughout the UK and the commonwealth. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered especially here in Manchester where the Queen and Prince Philip enjoyed the 2002 Commonwealth games. 2/2
