Join Paula Radcliffe MBE and 10,000 other runners at the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon in Oman
18th & 19th January 2019
If you love running and you want to continue running marathons throughout the winter months then this is the race for you. Starting in 2012 with just 135 entrants, the Muscat Marathon (now known as the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon) has quickly grown to become one of the star events in Oman’s sporting calendar.
The two day festival of running features not only the marathon but also a Half Marathon, 10k, kids’ race and charity fun run.
Winter racing in the sunshine
With January temperatures averaging around a balmy 20°-21°, Muscat is a great option for those looking for a winter challenge away from the UK’s biting winter.
The Al Mouj Muscat Marathon features a great choice of events taking place over two days.
A land of culture, history and breath-taking scenery
If you have never visited Oman then you are in for a treat.
When the running is over there is a myriad of things to see and do.
From bargain hunting in Muscat’s bustling souqs, diving at the Daymaniyat Islands, camping, taking camel rides, desert safaris and 4WD dune bashing in the Wahiba Sands – to swimming in natural sinkholes and exploring ancient forts – Oman has somewhere the whole family can enjoy.
If you would like to see more of the Sultanate during your stay the marathon organisers offer some unique travel packages. From a four-hour tour of mystical Muscat to two-day desert and coastal expeditions, there is something for everyone .
Direct flights operate from London and Manchester, and so getting yourself to Muscat is easy. The marathon organisers are also offering deals with up to 30% off standard packages when booked via their partners Oman Air Holidays.
