The Marine Corps Marathon, which takes place around Washington DC, started in 1975. Colonel James L. Fowler decided to create a marathon that promoted goodwill between the military and post-Vietnam community. The event helps to raise money for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund and it brings the community together to show the support for the US Marine Corps. The route of the MCM is amazing and it takes in many of Washington’s major monuments.
It was a wild weekend at the Marathon du Mont Blanc. Sadly the weather closed in and put paid to some events but a number of our runners completed the full marathon around Europe’s highest peak. Congratulations to everyone on a mega achievement 🏔
