The Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel 2021 will take place on Sunday July 4, 2021. We offer a wide selection of hotels in Alta Badia near the start and finish with lots of other options available like airport transfers, bike rental, overland bike transport from the UK and the services from our team. For those who are independent and would like to cater for themselves, we now also offer the option of self catering accommodation in Arabba which is ideal for those who are making their way by car to the Maratona.

DETAILS
The Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel is an epic event that takes place on a closed road course in the beautiful Italian Dolomites. We have selected a variety of self catering options in Arabba which is located at 15 minutes drive from the Alta Badia area. Apartments are a good choice for those with their own transport and the sleeping arrangements are more flexible than hotels. Please note that if you stay here then it is your responsibility to make your way to the start and back from the finish after the race. Your stay will be for 4 nights with arrival on the Thursday and departure on the Monday after the event. Arabba is one of the most renowned tourist resorts in the Dolomites and in the Alps; in winter, it is one of the world’s most extensive skiing areas, the Dolomiti Superski, close to the Sellaronda resort whose 40km of ski slopes link the resorts located around the Sella massif. The modern cableways take skiers from the town to the ski slopes, which are also connected to the Marmolada massif skiing area. In summer, the area is visited by hikers, cyclists and motorcyclists, who come for the stunning natural views and the vicinity to the Pordoi, Campolungo and Falzarego passes.

Maratona dles Dolomites: Event Details

The race can be done in 3 different ways of varying difficulty: the Sellaronda course, the Middle course and the Maratona course. All riders start at 06:30 am in the village of La Villa and the Sellaronda course with 4 mountain passes will be completed first. After completing the Sellaronda course riders can either choose to finish the race or carry on and do the Middle course. As the full Maratona course is basically an extension of the preceding shorter Middle course, riders who want to tackle the full Maratona dles Dolomites have to do the middle course after the Sella Ronda course. All three courses lead the riders through the Dolomites mountains through a mountain range called the Sella group on roads closed to traffic.

This event is big in Italy. It is on Italian national TV and many spectators line the side of the road to cheer you on. This event has all the hallmarks of a closed roads cycling sportive with food stations, closed roads and a great atmosphere.

Maratona dles Dolomites entry system

IMPORTANT: For the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel 2021 we can NOT accept cycling licenses anymore. Each participant needs to be in possession of a medical certificate.
1. You will be sent a link to register by the Maratona organisers. You need to complete all data and upload a medical certificate
2. The registration is confirmed once the participant has completed the registration
The starting number needs to be picked up personally by each participant with following documents:
- the voucher which each participant will get by email in June
- an original valid identification document (identity card, passport or driving license). No copies of the ID or other ID’s allowed.
A third party pickup is not allowed, and the medical certificate is NOT required at bib collection, as it will already have been uploaded into the registration system.

Like many other cycling events there are start pens based around rider’s estimated performance. The times below refer to the last 4 editions of the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel (2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019). We give you the option to buy your entry and guarantee your start pen. All women are guaranteed a start in pen B unless they have taken part in the last 4 years and have achieved a time of less than 7 hours which means they are in Pen A.

Group A starts at 06.30 a.m.
- 138km Women under 7 hours / Men under 5 hours 20
- 106km Women under 5 hours / Men under 3 hours 45
- Platinum and Crystal registrations
Group B follows after Group A – available at £185
- 138km Men under 6 hours
- 106km Men under 4 hours 30
- All Women not starting in the Group A
- Gold registrations
Group C follows 1 minute after the previous group – available at £160
- 138km Men under 8 hours
- 106km Men under 6 hours
Group D – available at £135

Those who do not come under the time limits shown above and registrations not subject to the draw. All Women not starting in the Group A will have the opportunity to book their entry for £135 and they will start in Group B. If you do not want to start in Group B, you have the option to drop back into Group C or D on the day.

- Cernadoi direction Passo Giau (76km) – 11.45
- Finish: 55km 1 p.m. 106km and 138km – 16.15

Thursday 1 July - Arrival Day

Please make your own way today to Arabba. It is very important that you let us know what time you aim to arrive so we can make arrangements for the apartment to be ready for you and for the keys to be available on arrival. You may need to provide a credit card to check in. Please note that your stay is on a self catering basis so you have to provide your own food. Linen, towels and end of stay cleaning are provided. There will be enough linen and towels provided for the amount of people who are staying so please ensure your confirm this in advance.

How to arrive in Arabba

From Venice, Treviso and Padova:

Take the A27 and exit in Belluno, then continue for Agoordo Alleghe and Caprile, then turn for Livinallongo, Arabba.

From Bolzano:

Take the “strada statale 12” until Karneid. In Ponte Gardena/Waidbruck take the “strada statale 242” and continue until Selva di Val Gardena, then turn into the “stradale statale 48” towards Arabba. For those coming from the Autostrada del Brennero, exit in Egna/Ora, continue for the Fiemme and Fassa Valleys, then continue for the Pordoi Pass until you reach Arabba.

From San Candido and Dobbiaco:

Take the “strada statale 49” for about 4 km, then continue on the “strada statale 51” and in Pierosa take the “strada statale 48” in order to reach Arabba.

Friday 2 July - Preparation Day and Race Briefing

Today you have the opportunity to visit the Maratona Expo in Corvara. Our guides will be on hand for any assistance you may require at the Expo or you can contact us for an appointment and we’ll come and see you in Arabba. There will be a virtual race briefing ahead of the event which you can attend online.

On the below map you’ll arrive from direction La Villa/ Corvara if you’re driving or cycling from Arabba.

Saturday 3 July - Registration Day

After breakfast today we advise you to ride the short distance down to the race expo and registration area. You can sample the atmosphere and the rest of the day is free for you to rest before tomorrow’s event or go for a short ride.

Sunday 4 July - The 2021 Maratona dles Dolomites

This is it, Maratona day. You will be one of the lucky 9000 who has an entry for this event. After an early breakfast, make your way over to the start. The start is at 06:30 but you have to be in your pen before 06:15 as this is when the organisers close the pens. If you arrive after this time, you will be automatically re-directed to the last pen.

We recommend that you park before you reach the finish in Corvara, so that you can easily leave this afternoon. The 10km drive over the Passo di Campolongo normally takes 30 minutes, but please allow extra time. This road will close at approximately 05:45 as it is part of the Gran Fondo route, but could reopen as early as 11:30. From Corvara, it’s a flat 4km ride to the start in La Villa – this road will close at 06:10, in time for you to be in your start pen.

Below you will find the various apartment options and prices. All durations are for 4 nights from Thursday to Monday. It is possible to use the apartment for less nights (contact us to let us know – cycling@sportstoursinternational.co.uk). Please let us know what your arrival day and time is so we can make arrangements for you to collect the keys. Reception will not be open if you arrive late at night or early in the morning.

The apartments are situated in the small town of Arabba which is located at about 15km from Alta Badia. In the heart of the Dolomites, Arabba is located on 1,602 m, one of the most characteristic villages of the Alps, a few kilometers from Pordoi and Campolongo Pass. Arabba is that connected with the Trentino (Canazei) and South Tyrol (Corvara). Guests are required to show a photo identification and credit card upon check-in. You’ll need to let the property know in advance what time you’ll arrive.

These self-catering apartments feature free WiFi, traditional wooden furnishings and views of the Sella Dolomites. If you are resident in Italy (either Italian nationals or overseas nationals living in Italy) you will need to obtain your entry through the Maratona dles Dolomites organisation. If you already have an event entry through the Maratona organisation and would like to book our hotel services, you are welcome to do this.
