Many of the World’s top triathletes will be taking part in this year’s Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote. This is because the IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote 2018 offers 50 qualifying slots for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice. You can test yourself against some of the world’s elite and take in the brilliant scenery that the route provides.

Event Details

The swim course takes place in the lagoon in front of Club La Santa, on the North West coast of Lanzarote. Triathletes will loop around the bay before heading back to shore for the cycling course.

The cycling leg will introduce triathletes to the terriffic winds of coastal Lanzarote, blasting over the unsheltered volcanic landscape as the course snakes around the North of the island. Staggering climbs are the order of the day with a 550m of climbing over one 12 km section. Much of the course will be open to traffic, but controlled by local police, expect amazing views over the island.

The run will both start and finish in the stadium at Club La Santa involving three laps of a 7km course. Triathletes will move through and around La Santa village by road and trail. Spectators will line the street to cheer the Triathletes on to become a Club La Santa IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote finisher.

There is a cut off of 8 hours 30 minutes for completing Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote.

ITINERARY

Course Description

Swim Course, 1.9 km (1 lap) Cut off 1h 10min.
The swim takes place in the safe lagoon in front of Club La Santa. The water temperature is around 22 degrees.

Bike Course, 90.1 km (1 lap) Cut off 5h 45min.
This course challenges athletes with strong winds and covers the north part of the island. Athletes will pass through the surf village of Famara with its impressive cliffs and views of La Graciosa Island; towards the picturesque old capital of Teguise; and back to the northern coast via the stunning 12km climb up Tabayesco (550m).

Run Course, 21.1 km (3 laps) Cut off 8h 30min.
The heat will be the main challenge on this fast course. Enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean and soak up the atmosphere with the support from the spectators lining the run in La Santa village and at Club La Santa.

Prize Money and Qualifying Slots

The IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote is a qualifying race for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. 50 Age Group slots will be distributed according to the number of athletes in each group, guaranteeing at least one slot for each category.

A total prize purse of $25,000 will be divided between the top 6 men and women in the Professional category.

Bike Hire

Please note that if you want to rent a Club La Santa bike rather than taking your own, you will have to arrange this separately with Club La Santa UK prior to departure.

Single travellers and twin to share

We welcome single travellers on our tours and holidays as it is a great way to join a like-minded group of people and you will make lots of new friends. If you would like to join our group as a single traveller we can offer you two options. A single room or if you want to avoid the single supplement then you can make use of our ‘twin to share’ option. We will pair you up with another traveller (of the same sex) and you can enjoy the event without having to pay extra.
