2021 Challenge Roth Travel Itinerary – subject to change

Tuesday 31 August 2021 – Arrival day 7 – night itinerary

Make your own way to our hotel in Nuremberg or Roth or give us your flight arrival times at Nuremberg or Munich airport and we will come to collect you. You will be staying at your chosen hotel for 7 nights on a bed and breakfast basis so with breakfasts included.

Munich airport arrivals

Today we will provide airport transfers from Munich Airport at set times throughout the day and depending on your flight arrival time, there may be a small wait for the next transfer. From Munich we provide airport transfers leaving the airport at 09.00, 13.00 and finally 17.00. Please note that the transfers depart the airport at these times so if you land before the advertised times but are not through by the departure time, you may have to wait for the next one.

If you would like to arrive later then we offer late arrival transfers at a supplement of £50 per person. These later transfers have limited space and they depart Munich  airport at 19.00 and 21.00. Private and group transfers are also available on request.

Nuremberg airport arrivals

We provide airport shuttles from Nuremberg throughout the day between 10.00 and 19.00. Depending on your flight arrival time, there may be a small wait for the next transfer. If you would like to arrive later than 19.00 then we offer late arrival transfers at a supplement of £25 per person which depart Nuremberg airport at 19.00 and 21.00.

If you are making use of our door to door overland bike transport service from the UK then your bike will be available at your hotel today.

Wednesday 1 September 2021

Today we kick the day off with meeting in front of your hotel at 07:30 and your team leader will take you for an easy run for 30 minutes. This evening the Challenge Roth Tours team will host a special Team Welcome including a buffet meal in Roth. Come along and meet the other team members and leaders.

Thursday 2 September 2021 – 4/5 night itinerary arrival day

Munich airport arrivals

Today we will provide airport transfers from Munich Airport at set times throughout the day and depending on your flight arrival time, there may be a small wait for the next transfer.

• 09.00 for those who arrived late the night before and stayed overnight near the airport or who are on early flights
• 13.00 departure for anyone arriving between 08.00 and 12.00
• 17.00 departure for anyone arriving between 11.00 and 16.00

Please note that the transfers depart the airport at these times so if you land before the advertised times but are not through by the departure time, you may have to wait for the next one.

Today’s schedule for the 7 night itinerary

At 07.30 we meet in front of your hotel and we will take you for an easy run for 20 – 30 minutes. Our Head Tour leader Shane Smith will also be available for a race briefing for those athletes who did not attend the welcome dinner.

Between 15.00 and 16.00 you have the opportunity to meet our team in the hotel reception for you to collect your bags, stickers, shirts and hats if you haven’t already done so.

At 16.30 we will transport you to the expo where you will be able to register, check out the exhibitors at the expo and enjoy some downtime at the Erdinger Hutte. Return transport back to the hotel at 20.30

Friday 3 September 2021 – SWIM/RUN & BIKE COURSE ORIENTATION – ATHLETES ONLY

This morning between 07.00 and 12.30 we will do our swim/run and bike course orientation. When we arrive at the swim start you will walk to the canal with the bus leader and our former Pro Triathlete guide will advise of the course. After you have had your swim/run, you will have time to look at the transition area before heading back to the bus for the bike course orientation. We will get back to the hotel for about 12.00.

In the afternoon you have the opportunity from 15.00 until 16.00 in the hotel foyer to collect your bags, shirts and hats plus the stickers you will require for your bike and gear.

Today at 17.00 you will be collected by bus to go to Roth for race registration if you haven’t registered already. You will also get another chance to have a look around the expo and to attend the Challenge Roth welcome dinner. The bus will return at 20.30.

Saturday 4 September 2021, registration and bike check day

After breakfast at your hotel we will collect your bike from you at 10.30 from your hotel. Today we will transfer your bikes to Hilpolstein which is the location of the swim and of the bike storage at transition 1. To make things easier for you we have arranged with the organisers to collect your bike and your bike and run bags on your behalf after you finish on Sunday. This will allow you to relax at the finish with family and friends without worrying about walking over to the bike-to-run transition to collect the items.

At 13.00 we leave for bike and bike gear check-in at Hipolstein (where your bike will be waiting for you) and then drive to the race briefing in Roth (14:30 departure from Hilpolstein), which is scheduled for 15:00. We will then return to your hotels leaving after the briefing finishes at 16:00. You must hand your run bag only in at Hilpolstein (T1) today. The bike bag is placed at swim exit the next morning so you will bring this with you on race day tomorrow.

We estimate to get back to the hotel at about 17.00 so you’re free to grab some food and relax ahead of the big day.

Sunday 5 September 2021, The 2021 Challenge Roth

Race day! Early breakfast will be available from 03.00 at the hotel before taking the bus over to Roth and the swim start of the 2021 Challenge Roth.

Bike bags need to be brought with you this morning and they need to be placed in your spot at the swim exit. The buses will leave for Roth and head to the swim start with athletes and spectators from 04.30.

Spectator’s information after the swim

After the swim you will walk through the cobble-stoned streets and the cafés of Hipolstein to the ‘Solar Berg’ to watch the riders climb this famous hill. This is a total of a 4km walk round trip from swim start to Solar and back to the buses. Spectator buses will be available for transport from Hilpolstein back to Roth. The buses will leave the swim area at 11:30, 12:00 and 12:30. We will meet at the north side of the bridge where you were dropped off and then make our way to Roth to watch the remainder of the run and the finish.

Athlete and Spectator Returns after Race

Your bike and kit bags will be looked after by us and we will collect them and transport them back to your hotels for you. Buses will return athletes and spectators to their hotels from 19.00 every 2 hours until 20 minutes after the fireworks which puts the last buses at about 23.30.

Swim, Bike, Run and enjoy the great atmosphere of this truly international event. The absolute highlights are the bike section up Solar Hill and the brilliant finish arena in Roth.

Monday 6 September 2021, Awards Ceremony and departure day for 4 night itinerary

Today the Challenge Roth Tours buses will collect you at 10.00 from your hotel to take you to the awards ceremony and then return you to your hotel at 13.00. Before the start of the award ceremony please meet at the Erdinger Hutte for a group photo and a chance to meet and thank Felix and his team who run the best event in the world!

For those who are on the 4 night itinerary, please check out of the hotel and make your own way home or book onto one of our departure airport transfers. Please give us your flight departure time from Nuremberg or Munich airport at time of booking or at the earliest opportunity.

N.B. As this is the day after the event and there is a very late finish the day before we only accommodate airport transfers for flights that depart Munich airport after 10.00 and Nuremberg airport after 09.00. If you want to leave earlier we advise you booking a private transfer.
