The fight for Pink will take place from Friday 4 to Sunday 27 May 2018 and the big start of the 101st edition of the Giro d’Italia will take place in Jerusalem, Israel in May 2018. The big start of the 2018 Giro will include 3 stages in Israel. We offer exclusive VIP experiences to the 2018 Grande Partenza in Jerusalem including tickets to the team presentation in Jerusalem, a day on the course in an official car and start and finish VIP access on all stages in Israel.

DETAILS
The 101st Giro d’Italia

Jerusalem hosts the start of the 101st Giro d’Italia. The Big Start in Israel is the 13th time the Giro d’Italia will start outside of Italy. There will be a 10km time trial on Friday 4 May in the Old City followed by two road stages on the Saturday and the Sunday. Day Two begins at the scenic Baha’i Gardens in Haifa, then passing through historic Acre and Caesarea, before riders head to the finish line on Tel Aviv’s beachside promenade, totalling 167km.

Day 3 begins in Beer Sheva and takes in southern Israel’s most dramatic scenery including the breathtaking Ramon Crater, finishing at the Red Sea resort of Eilat, totaling 226km.

Stage 1 – Jerusalem ITT – 10km

The Grande Partenza of the 2018 Giro d’Italia sees its first action with with a time trial in the Old City of Jerusalem. In 2016 the the Grande Partenza in Holland saw Tom Dumoulin taking the Pink jersey on a similar course. The start and finish will stay near to Old Jerusalem and the course features plenty of highly technical sections before a slightly uphill finish.

Stage 2 – Haifa to Tel Aviv – 167km (100 miles)

Stage 2 of the 2018 Giro d’Italia takes place in between Haifa and Tel Aviv. This could be the first sprint finish that we will see as the route is pretty flat. The stage will start and finish on the Mediterranean coast as both Haifa and Tel Aviv are coastal cities.

Stage 3 – Be’er Sheva to Eilat

The Negev desert is the scene of this long stage. The stage starts in Be’er Sheva and traverses pretty much the whole of the desert to finish in Eilat on the Red Sea.

Thursday 3 May, 2018 – Team presentation of the 2018 Giro d’Italia

The team presentation is likely to take place at a large public venue in Jerusalem on Thursday 3 May. We are expecting the official team presentation of the 101st Giro d’Italia to take place this afternoon at about 16.00.

The team presentation of the 2018 Giro d’Italia promises to be a spectacular event and you can only gain access by purchasing a ticket.

Friday the 4 May, 2018 – Stage 1 – ITT in Jerusalem

Today’s stage

The 101st Giro d’italia starts on a Friday with a Time Trial just like it did in 2016 in Holland where current Giro champion Tom Dumoulin narrowly beat Roglic to grab the first Pink Jersey. Tom could well do that again today.
