Port Elizabeth, set along South Africa’s Algoa Bay is well known for a few reasons. The city’s other nickname is the ‘windy’ city, and this is a city that does tend to live up to both names – adding an extra element of challenge to the Ironman African Championships – held annually at Nelson Mandela Bay. A fierce race in a friendly city, three time Ironman World Championship Runner up Lucy Charles Barclay, is the twice defending champion, on this spectacular course.
