The CHILDREN with CANCER UK Mr Men and Little Miss Team has been taking part in the ING New York City Marathon since 2002. Each member of our team wears our distinctive Mr Tickle and Mr Happy running vest.

From the International Friendship Fun Run on the Saturday morning, to the pasta party on Saturday evening, to the New York Marathon on Sunday morning and then our post-race hospitality, this marathon is a unique and exciting experience. We aim to help make this a day never to be forgotten.

We will have a team of CHILDREN with CANCER UK volunteers along the route of the New York Marathon, dressed in the trademark charity red with balloons and banners, and a team of staff and volunteers are on hand to greet each and every runner, no matter how long it takes to complete the course! Each runner, their families and friends are also invited to a reception, held in downtown Manhattan to enjoy hot food and a chance to unwind and reflect on the day with fellow Mr Men and Little Miss team mates.

Every runner is a star in our eyes and deserving of our deepest gratitude. The motivation and determination required for preparation and training, with runners pounding the streets in often wet and cold conditions is awe-inspiring. Whilst completing 26.2 miles of the New York Marathon is a huge personal achievement, many runners also let us know that collecting sponsorship monies is almost more demanding. For this, we also like to thank and include runners’ families and friends whose kind sponsorship and encouragement is so important; this support and commitment is so deeply appreciated and vital in raising much needed funds for our fight against the biggest childhood cancer.
