Rome is one of the most visited cities in Europe. “The Eternal City” is steeped in history at every turn, from the Roman Empire, via the rise of the Vatican and the great Renaissance squares and fountains, to the modern Olympic Stadium. You certainly won’t see everything in a single weekend however, by running in the Rome Marathon, your memories of this magical city will stay with you forever!
Why not have a romantic weekend in Rome by bringing your partner with you and combining your holiday weekend with a running holiday for the best of both worlds!
The race: The course of the Rome Marathon takes in all the sights from the Coliseum to the Roman Forum, as well as St. Peter’s Square, Vatican City, Olympic Stadium, Piazzale Popolo and Trevi Fountain. There is a supporting family fun run (entered locally). Time limit 7hrs. 2014 will see the 20th anniversary of the Rome Marathon.
We will be staying at the 3-star Mercure Roma Piazza Bologna Hotel, situated in the elegant surroundings of Piazza Bologna. Bologna metro station is a 2 minute walk from the hotel giving quick access to the historic center and sites of interest such as the Coliseum and Circus Maximus as well as Termini and Tiburtina train stations. Amenities include a fitness room, modern bar, meeting room, private parking and free WIFI.

Day 1 – Friday 21st March - Arrive into Rome and transfer by public transport to the Hotel Mercure Roma Piazza Bologna. This afternoon is available for registration at the marathon expo and sightseeing.
Day 2 – Saturday 22nd March – After breakfast, this day is free for registration and the expo and sightseeing.
Day 3 – Sunday 23rd March – Marathon Day – After an early breakfast, you will make your way to the marathon start and take part in the Rome Marathon. Evening at leisure and a well earned drink.
Day 4 - Monday 24th March – After breakfast, check out of the hotel by 11am where you will then have time to explore Rome before your return on onward journey.

Do you want to take part in this great event but your friends or family are not into running or they can't get time off work? Use our 'twin to share' option. We will pair you up with another person so you don't have to pay the sole occupancy supplement.

Please note, all entrants MUST forward a completed entry form and medical certificate to Sports Tours International by the 24th February 2014. This must be stamped and signed by your doctor, stating that 'according to the results of medical check-ups and examinations, is healthy and currently fit for competitive sports in general and for the marathon in particular', and state that the certificate is valid at least until the 31st March 2014. If this is not sent to us you will be denied entry to the race.

At time of booking we require a non-refundable deposit per person plus any applicable entry fee. The balance of your travel package must be paid, at the latest, 12 weeks before departure to avoid the cancellation of your trip
Visas are not required to enter Italy. You need a passport. As a British passport holder you may stay as a visitor for three months. General Travel Information is available.
