Forget the sex, it’s time to run in the City!

Details for the 2011 New York Women’s Mini 10k will be coming shortly. The Date has still to be confirmed, so we are working to June 11th as a provisional one.

Join us for the 40th NYRR New York Mini 10K, the original women-only road race! A professional field of the world’s fastest female distance runners will lead thousands of women on a 10K course through Central Park. Don’t miss it!

This year, the Mini once again welcomes a multitude of international distance runners, but as always, it’s also an event for all women of all ability levels. The world’s original women-only road race continues its tradition of celebrating all that women’s running has to offer.

In 1972, New York Road Runners staged the world’s first road race exclusively for female participants, the 6-mile Crazylegs Mini Marathon which is the forerunner of the New York Mini 10k.

The NYRR New York Mini 10K continues to celebrate females’ participation in distance running events—a cause that pioneers such as: Kathrine Switzer, the first women to officially run the Boston Marathon; Nina Kuscsik, the first woman to run the New York City Marathon and first winner of the Boston Marathon; and Tegla Loroupe, the first African woman to win the New York City Marathon, boldly fought for. Kuscsik greeted runners before the start of last year’s Mini 10k, with some inspiring words.

Now it’s hardly worth mentioning, but don’t forget in amongst the hard training and the race itself, you may want to make a weekend of it in with the best shopping cities on the planet! There’s always Saturday afternoon and Sunday to indulge in the New York lifestyle…

The race starts at 9am on Saturday monring and timing is by Dtag.

Flights – You can book your own Flights or we are happy to arrange these for you. Note, if you do book a Hotel accommodation only option with a flight in this manner, then transfers are not automatically included, but we will provide you with a cost to this.

PASSPORTS – THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

Please note: we will require a copy of your passport along with your application form.

Please – don’t leave it to the last minute. The following information is for United Kingdom passport holders only, other nationals including Eire should consult the appropriate embassy.
UK residents are allowed to enter the USA with a ten year passport, with no less than 6 months left before the expiry of the passport, if staying in the US for less than 90 days. However, the rules are constantly updated, so we advise that you check your own individual situation as the visa waiver programme is subject to strict criteria, and for example, if you have a criminal record or have previously been refused entry to the US, you may not qualify for entry under the Visa Waiver programme. Please check your status with the rules.

Passengers are no longer permitted to enter the USA with a non-machine readable passport unless their old style passport has a valid Visa stamp. The newer red passports are machine readable. CHILDREN MUST HAVE THEIR OWN PASSPORT – If in doubt please contact the passport advice line on 0300 222 0000, or Passport Office Website or if applicable the American Embassy on 0207 499 9000 or the US Embassy Website

IMMIGRATION TO THE USA

There are now very strict guidelines on entry to the USA and a new system put in place whereby you must have registered with the Department of Homeland Security at least three days before you travel. More information can be found on the Department’s Official Website
