Madrid Marathon
17 Apr 2011 toApril 2011 sees the running of the 34th edition of the Madrid Marathon, one of the most important sporting events in Spain. We are offering a short weekend running holiday to Madrid, for you to take part in this famous marathon. This is also the same date at the Virgin London Marathon, so is a good marathon alternative for those who can’t make it to London.
The 2011 Madrid Marathon will be run on a city course and take in many of Madrid’s famous sights. The race itself starts around 9am local time and the course closes at 3pm.
The organisers refer to this marathon being “42km of Pure Madrid” which is an apt way of summing it up. The Madrid Marathon has been awarded Silver Label status by the IAAF recognising the high level of organisation which goes into this excellent marathon.
The Madrid Marathon is considered the 1st Ecological Sport Event in Spain by the National and Autonomical Institutions.
And why not make a long weekend of your visit to Madrid for the Marathon. The city of one of the finest in the World and you can sample some of the great highlights of the Spanish capital whilst in town.
There are further details of the Madrid Marathon itself available at the official website:
