The following details apply to the 2011 New York Marathon. We will update this in December with the details for 2012.

Whilst visiting New York City for the ING New York City Marathon, it’s a great opportunity to explore and see the most of the city. Even those who have visited New York previously are always amazed at how quickly the city changes and every time you visit, there is the opportunity to learn more about New Yorkers and the great city in which they live.

In between all the action relating to the ING New York City marathon, there is still plenty of time to relax and enjoy yourself. Sports Tours International is pleased to present a number of different excursion options for you to explore New York and take in some sightseeing. All of the sightseeing excursions listed below are available as an optional extra when booking a travel package to the New York marathon.

TOUR MC-MANHATTAN

Full day tour by luxury motorcoach accompanied by a professional tour guide. See all of Manhattan from Uptown to Downtown – Times Square, Madison Square Garden, Greenwich Village, Soho, Little Italy and Battery Park, where you will board a ferry on a one-hour cruise with close-up views of the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island and Brooklyn Bridge. Resume the tour at Battery Park driving up to Central Park, The Cathedral of St John the Divine, Grants Tomb, Harlem, the Museum Mile, Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Centre and more. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR HELICOPTER TOURS

You must specify a preferred day and time when you book the helicopter tours as demand is high. Photo ID is also required upon arrival at the helicopter departure point.

The above rates for the helicopter tours do not include the $30 passenger handling fee and mandatory $2.50 Helicopter Security Fee will be collected directly at the Heliport.

NIAGARA FALLS BY AIR

This full day excursion starts with a transfer from your hotel to a New York Airport for the flight to Buffalo. Then transfer by coach to Niagara Falls. You’ll get to see one of the Wonders of the World from both the American and Canadian sides. Take a look at the Falls from behind the cascades of water from the Scenic Tunnel and view the Falls from above during lunch (included in the tour) at the Panoramic Dining Room at the Skyline Brock Hotel.

You must indicate your preferred tour date and the full names of all passengers travelling on the tour. Passports are also required.

DAY TRIP TO WASHINGTON

ALL LOOPS 48 HOUR

The All Loops Tour is probably the most flexible way of exploring New York, you can hop on and hop off the Double Decker bus (as above) at over 50 stops in a period of 48 hours and switch from one loop to antoher at the different transfer points. The loops include:

Uptown Loop – Stops include Central Park, Lincoln Center, Theater district, Rockefeller Plaza, Radio City, Fifth Avenue, American Museum of Natural History, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Apollo Theatre and Harlem neighborhoods, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Guggenheim and other famous cultural attractions on Museum Mile and more.

Downtown Loop – stops include Empire State Building, Greenwich Village, SoHo, Little Italy, Chinatown, World Trade Center site, Financial District, Battery Park (departure point for Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island ferry and a harbor cruise), South Street Seaport, Times Square, Rockefeller Plaza, Radio City, United Nations, Fifth Avenue and more.

Brooklyn Loop – Stops include Cadman Plaza / Brooklyn Heights, view of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline, Old Fulton Landing, Atlantic Avenue, Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn Museum of Art and Botanic Garden, Fulton Mall.

Night Tour – View many sites from Times Square, Empire State Building to Greenwich Village and SoHo. See all the glittering lights of “the City that never sleeps”. Includes a stop in Brooklyn for magnificent views of Manhattan’s skyline. NOT hop-on, hop-off service.
