Thank you to everyone who took part and all the volunteers who assisted with the 2009 City of Manchester 10k at Sportcity. It was truly a fantastic event, enjoyed by all. A true “People’s Run”!
Over 2000 runners took part in the race, started by legend Dr Ron Hill MBE and the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Alison Firth, The men’s event was won by Ezekiel Cherob (Birchwood) in a time of 30.27, whils the women’s event saw a fantastic finish with Nicki Archer of Vale Royal AC overtaking Joyce Kandie in the last 50 metres to snatch victory on the line in a time of 35.24.
But the biggest winners were all the other runners who took part, especially those running for charity and those who were running their first 10k, with the biggest cheer of the day reserved for the last person across the line in a time just under 1hour 40 minutes.
You can find all the City of Manchester 10k results at www.tdl.ltd.uk/
