We Love Manchester 2013 10K in association with K-Swiss
The "People's run" is back! The We Love Manchester 10k in association with K-Swiss returns with a new date for 2013 - 14th July - and as before, this starts and finishes on the running track at Sportcity in Manchester, part of the Etihad Campus next to the Manchester City FC football ground and takes place over closed roads in East Manchester.
We are proud that once more the event, also known as the City of Manchester 10k, is sponsored by K-Swiss.
Last year's City of Manchester 10k was a fantastic race, with 2,500 runners taking part. First to cross the finish line in the men’s race was Mohammad Abu-Rezeq from Altrincham in a time of 30 minutes 35 seconds, with Getenesh Tamarate from Belgrave Harriers winning the female category in a time of 34 minutes 49 seconds. Visit the 2012 page on our website for more details of last year's event.
This year, you can join us too at the Manchester 10k! And if you enter before 15th April, you can save 25% off the normal entry fee!
There are prizes in the main Vet categories, plus for the first three in the overall male and female categories, there is £250 cash for 1st place, £150 for 2nd place and £75 for 3rd place.
Plus for all finishers this year, we have an excellent, padded Sports Tours International rucksack, ideal for carrying your running gear.
Bring your friends and family and they can watch you start and finish on the running track at Sportcity.
Follow us on twitter too and receive all the latest updates on the race.
The We Love Manchester 10k race route
The race starts and finishes at the Etihad Campus at 9.30am, going around the outside of the Etihad Stadium, originally built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. The race then heads on to Alan Turing Way and up to Oldham Road, before heading back through Miles Platting towards the Stadium. When we re-enter the Etihad Campus, you're now on a second, much smaller loop of the area, going back on to Alan Turing Way and then turning left on to Bradford Road, before another left turn onto New Viaduct Street and the final run in towards a final lap, in front of cheering fans, of the running track and the finish.
To enter the 2013 We Love Manchester 10k in association with K-Swiss
Book before 15/4/13 to enter with 25% off. This means £12 for UK Athletics club runners and £13.50 for non-club runners, instead of paying the full £16 and £18 respectively.
CORPORATE CHALLENGE
This is open to all businesses who wish to enter a team of runners, with the first three home counting towards the Challenge itself. It's great for staff motivation and firms can use the event to raise money for their chosen corporate charity appeal. We look forward to seeing some competition between some of the North West's finest companies!
RUN FOR CHARITY
Each year, runners raise thousands of pounds for good causes and this time, our nominated charity is We Love Manchester, which is also known as the Lord Mayor of Manchester's charity.
Remember, you can also run for whatever charity you like, so if there's a cause close to your heart, then run for that one.
THE TODDLER TROT
Alongside the main 10k race, we'll also have a "Toddler Trot" open to children under 8 to enter (mums and dads can hold the hands of the very youngest!). Only £3 to enter.
