2015 Decathlon We Love Manchester 10K

13th July 2015:

We had a fantastic time for this year's Decathlon We Love Manchester 10k!  With over 3,000 entries, runners took to the streets of Manchester.  It was great to see lots of smiling faces cross the finish line, hitting PB's and raising money for some fantastic causes.

Past champion Mohammad Abu Rezeq won the men's category, with Michelle Ross-Cope being the first woman home.

-Important notice -

We had to delay the prize giving on the day and the confirmation of the results as we found some discrepancies in the names allocated to certain bib numbers.  On further investigation we discovered many instances of unauthorised bib number swapping - including men running as women and vice versa!  We even found someone running in a previous year's bib number.  May we take the opportunity to remind you under England Athletics rules, we issue the bib number to specific runners.   If these are found to be transferred, the persons responsible will be disqualified and may be subject to disciplinary action by the National Association.  We may take action to prevent runners with unauthorised numbers from starting the race in the future.  Please do not swap numbers.

Europe’s leading sportswear and equipment retailer, Decathlon, has announced that it will be the Official Title Sponsor at the 2015 We Love Manchester 10k run.

Decathlon will be actively involved with the event, offering giveaways and product samples to runners, plus the chance to receive a free gait analysis and purchase some ‘race-day’ running items. All runners will receive a commemorative branded t-shirt at the finish line.

Alex Jones from Decathlon Stockport commented: “The We Love Manchester 10k is a perfect match for Decathlon. Its inclusive nature and the positive community impact it will generate through raising money for the We Love Manchester Charity echo the Decathlon brand values. Our purpose of ‘making sport accessible to the many’ is realised through this event and we are excited to be a part of it.”
