2010 sees the 2500th anniversary of Phidippides’ run from Marathon to Athens, which set the scene for Marathons to enter the World of Sport, so this year’s Athens Classic Marathon will be more special than ever with everyone wanting to enter this memorable occasion.
Join Sports Tours International, an Official Travel Agency of the Athens Classic Marathon, on this celebration tour and also have the company of the legendary Ron Hill MBE, previous winner of the 1969 European Championships on this course, plus Ron also ran his 100th ever marathon in Athens. Our travel package for the race is for three nights staying at the Novotel Athens, a very good hotel central to the finish in Athens. The itinerary is
Friday 29th October: Arrive at Athens airport and transfer into the centre of Athens (a free Athens transport card can be collected from the special Marathon desk at the airport by all competitors)
Saturday 30th October: Registration for the marathon; Pasta Party in the evening with Ron Hill MBE.
Sunday 31st October: transfer to the marathon start; run in the Marathon, 5k or the 10k. Afternoon to celebrate your participation in the anniversary Athens Marathon
Monday 1st November: Transfers back to Athens airport.
In addition, your marathon entry also entitles you to the following from the Marathon organisers:
- provision of bib number
- provision of timing chip
- provision of commemorative medal
- transport to the Marathon Start
- provision of water, soft drinks and medical services during and after the race
- Participation Certificate with the final and split times of the runner
- Sports bag with commemorative presents (sipper, pen, mouse pad)
- T-shirt of the race
- free use of Public Transport, including from and to Athens Airport (3 days before and 2 days after the Race)

Our hotel is the Novotel Athens, a superb hotel in the heart of the city. featuring a swimming pool with a breathtaking view of the Acropolis and Lycabettous Hill.Try gourmet Greek cuisine at the Nov’aGora Restaurant . Location wise, this hotel is 2/3 km of the finish of the Athens Marathon, where you also meet the bus to take you to the start of the Athens marathon itself.
Your hotel package, including breakfast, is for 3 nights.

HOW TO BOOK
At time of booking we require a non-refundable deposit of £100 per person, plus the full Race Entry Fee, which is non-returnable once booked. The balance of your travel package must be paid, at the latest, 12 weeks before departure to avoid the cancellation of your trip.

Visas are not required to enter Greece. You need a passport or a National Identity Card (see the website of the Identity and Passport Service (IPS)) to enter Greece.
