Gran Fondo Milan-Sanremo

Gran Fondo Milan San Remo
The Gran Fondo Milan San Remo cyclo sportive is now in its 43rd year and covers 294 kms from Milan (Milanoflori) to Sanremo on the Corso Garibaldi. The Milan Sanremo cyclo sportive is an almost identical cycling event to the cycling professional Spring Classic cycling race held in March.
Famous cyclists such as Cavendish, Roche and Cancellara have all won this classic and Sports Tours International is offering you the chance to test yourself on this famous cycling route. It is a monster of a sportive and one, only, for the most hardened of cyclists.
Follow previous winners like Roche, Cancellara, and more recently World Champion Mark Cavendish in taking on this course.

There is no longer Sportive from a distance point of view in the Gran Fondo calendar. Although the cycling route can only be described as “lumpy”, it is still the ultimate challenge for most cyclo sportive riders, and does include the cycling climbs of:
PASSO DEL TURCHINO 20 km (average 1.8 % – max 6 %)
CAPO MELE 2.5 km (5.2 % and 6 %)
CAPO CERVO 2.5 km (4.1 % and 5 %)
CAPO BERTA 3 km (4.3 % and 8 %)
CIPRESSA 5.6 km (4,1 % and 7 %)
POGGIO DI SANREMO 3.7 km (3,5 % and 6 %)
It is worth noting that the Milan San Remo winner in 2012 finished in 8 hours 6 minutes, with 144 riders finishing in under 8 hours 30 minutes (an average of 21 miles per hour). The last finisher took nearly 13 hours, so this is both a serious race and a leisurely stroll, depending on your abilities and experience. Those wishing to experience a full-on Italian Road Race should look no further.
