Gran Fondo Giordana Marco Pantani

The Gran Fondo Giordana formerly known as the Gran Fondo Marco Pantani in honour of one of Italian cycling's greatest ever cyclists, is a relatively new cyclo sportive to the Gran Fondo calendar and is held over a classic cycling course in the Italian Alps, taking in the mythical climbs of the Gavia and Mortirolo which often feature so prominently in the Giro d’Italia.
The sportive event starts and finishes in the ski town of Aprica, and is held over a classic mountainous course that Marco Pantani would have relished in his prime. There is a choice of routes of either 93km (Corto Fondo), 112km (Medio Fondo) or the full 172km (Gran Fondo).
The full 172km Gran Fondo sportive route covers 3 very famous cycling mountain passes including the Passo Gavia, Mortirolo, Passo S. Cristina whilst the 152km Medio Fondo covers 2 mountain passes Passo Gavia and Mortirolo. The shorter 93km Corto Fondo covers the climb of the Mortirolo.
The Gran Fondo Giordana Marco Pantani sportive is very well organised with numerous feed stations, tech support and electronic timing.
There is a pasta party both before the event and afterwards and also included with your entry is a Gran Fondo Marco Pantani T-Shirt.
This is a great opportunity to make the most outof your Italian cycling holiday.
