Rathbone
Rathbone is a UK wide voluntary youth sector organisation providing opportunities for young people to transform their life-circumstances by re-engaging with learning, discovering their ability to succeed and achieving progression to further education, training or employment. We are one of the largest independent providers of education and training in the tertiary sector.
Our philosophy and our approach to working with young people today comes directly from our founder Elfrida Rathbone who believed that everyone, whatever their starting point in life, can make progress through learning. The focus of our work is with young people facing great personal challenges in terms of their learning and social support needs. Rathbone provision reaches some 15,000 young people annually across Scotland, England and Wales.
Rathbone’s work is focused on four key target groups and programmes: Youth Choices , a programme for young people aged 14 to16 who are either wholly or partially excluded from school Preparation for Life and Work, a programme called Entry to Employment (e2e) in England, Skill Build in Wales and Get Ready for Work in Scotland, for young people aged 16 to 19 who are not yet ready for work or further study Apprenticeships, for young people aged 16 to 24 who are ready to embark on training for work Youth Engagement, outreach programmes for young people aged 14 to19 who are not in education, training or employment We operate from a network of 84 centres across the UK.
